In
the past seven years Holland's most renowned guitarband has
traveled all over the world-from Arnhem to Bearsville, San
Francisco to Tokyo-and made four albums, of which their debut, Palomine,
is regarded a modern rock classic.
Carol
van Dyk, Peter Visser, Herman Bunskoeke and new drummer Reinier
Veldman teamed up with
English producer John Parish (P.J. Harvey, Giant Sand and
16 Horsepower) to complete the bands first studio album
since 1997s Dust Bunnies. For the recording
of Private Suit, Bettie Serveert returned to Weesp,
the Dutch town where Palomine was created.
Though the new album contains
all of the familiar Bettie-ingredients-Carol's soulful voice,
Peter's ever-intriguing guitar playing-the record also reveals
some unexpected sides. Herman and Peter's backing vocals
add a new found pop sensibility and Reinier contributes a
tight and sober drumming style that complements Herman's
fine bass playing in every respect. Private Suit also
includes special appearances by the Lenski brothers from
the innovative Belgian string quartet D.A.A.U., producer
John Parish, members of Metal Molly and Bart Vincent from
Thou.
Bettie
Serveerts new CD Private
Suit is now available via Parasol
Mail Order and will be released throughout the U.S.
September 5th on Parasols in-house imprint, Hidden
Agenda. The band will tour the US in October, including
dates with Counting Crows/Live, and an appearance at CMJs
annual music marathon. Please visit www.bettieserveert.com for
